Summer Plans?

It’s 30 degrees in Lowell.  Sounds like a good time to start thinking about summer plans, right?!

Our students may have noticed that for a few days in January, the counseling department gained a member.  Tim LaBranche, a 2012 LC grad and a current senior at Endicott College, was completing an internship and learning about becoming a guidance counselor.  One of the things Tim helped out with was updating out enrichment program Google document.  That information is always accessible by clicking on the “Enrichment Program” tab of this blog, but can also be found here.

Enrichment programs are a great way to learn more about a subject you are passionate about.  When they take place on a college campus, they can give students a taste of what college life will be like.  If you have any questions about a program, please see your counselor!

Girls STEM Summit

Attention high school girls!  Are you interested in a career using science, technology, engineering, or math?  Would you like to learn more about emerging careers in these fields?  If so, Girls STEM Summit-North is for you!

On Saturday, November 1st, UMass Lowell is hosting a STEM workshop for girls in grades 8-12.  The program runs from 8:30am – 4pm and includes lunch.  Participants will hear from inspirational leaders in the STEM field, be involved in mini career path workshops, learn about college institutions offering STEM degrees, and receive giveaways and meet girls with similar interests.

This program, sponsored by Jr. Tech and Cubist Pharmaceuticals, is popular and always fills up fast.  If you are interested, you need to register as quickly as possible within the next two weeks.  There is a $45 enrollment fee.  Register here.  If you have any questions, contact Mrs. Langan!
